Hubert also founded the Hubert Burda Center for Innovative Communications at the Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel. He has been awarded numerous prizes and distinctions for his achievements in publishing and business, including the European Print Media Prize and the Gold Medal Freedom of Speech of the European Association of Communications (EACA). In 2006 Hubert received the Leo Baeck Prize by the Central Council of Jews for his commitment to reconciliation between Germans and Jews.
