Roland Freund

Roland Freund (47) arrived at dpa in 1995 after completing his studies in Catholic Theology, Economics and Sociology. Following his traineeship, he worked as political and economic editor in Munich, and between 1999 and 2001, he took part in developing a sales strategy for non-media clients in southern Germany. In the two years that followed, he progressed to the management of Globus Infografik GmbH in Hamburg. Later, he took on the dual position of manager and editor-in-chief at dpa-AFX business news. In autumn 2007, Roland Freund began working in New York, and on January 1, 2010, he became chief political editor in Berlin. Since July 2010, he has been chief editor for domestic news and a member of the chief editorial board. Most recently, he has led the development of dpa next Lab at Berlin’s Betahaus.
